How DISC can help you

First and foremost building effective relationships is critical to our  personal life, our professional performance and to our connection with others.  DISC profiling is a simple, easy to use and powerful assessment tool developed over decades and developed through millions of people across the world. It helps people identify and make sense of the different behaviour patterns and personality traits we all exhibit in a clear and easy fashion. By providing insight into behavioural types, patterns and styles, we can better understand what drives certain behaviour, what motivates us and what can be unhelpful when we try to connect and form relationships with others. Understanding our own personal style is a powerful way to help build effective and strong relationships quickly with others.DISC behaviours

How it works

Everyone is a blend of four styles D, I, S & C and this creates a unique behaviour profile for an individual. Understanding the way we think and act can be extremely valuable to appreciate similarities and differences in behaviour and personality traits as they interact.

Styles are expressed as a combination of a main style with a combination of areas of cross over to other possible styles. for greater levels of depth there are 12 sub-styles.

As a DISC assessment provider and facilitator, I use Wiley for administering the online assessments. These are completed by you using a link I send by email. Once completed I generate a detailed report on your behaviour traits.  We use this in our coaching sessions to provide additional insight into why you behave in a particular way and to help you understand how other people behaviour in relation to you.  We can also look at areas you might want to change or aspects of yourself you wish to work on to get better outcomes with both your personal and professional relationships.

What you learn with DISC

  • How to identify your own specific style and the 3 – 5 key priorities on the model that dominate your behavioural style
  • What are your motivators and stressors and how these can affect your behaviour
  • How to adapt your style to manage your relationships more effectively
  • To understand areas of your behaviour that are limiting you
  • To be able to more easily see and utilise your positive traits and those of others
  • To interpret the thoughts and feelings of those people around you better as they exhibit traits from their particular style eg if perhaps distressed, outspoken, under pressure, fearful etc.
  • To get the best out of people and enable better possible outcomes in a given situation.

You will find there to be many more benefits by using DISC, both as a practical, clear and insightful tool for personal development as well as a beneficial tool to apply in organisations for use within team and performance development.
